Bangkok: "Jesd" has voiced concerns over the Election Commission's rapid certification of MPs, drawing a stark comparison to a premature cremation before an autopsy and warning of potential chaos in parliament.

According to Thai News Agency, Associate Professor Dr. Jetsada Tonawanik, the Rak Chart Party's prime ministerial candidate, has raised alarms about the Election Commission's (EC) swift announcement regarding the certification of the initial group of 396 MPs. He believes the process was expedited without resolving numerous pending complaints and ambiguities. Dr. Jetsada likened the scenario to cremating a corpse before conducting a thorough autopsy, suggesting it could result in significant turmoil once parliament meets. He emphasized the potential for ongoing conflicts if MPs are later disqualified or if yellow or red cards are issued, urging the EC to investigate the origins of the certified MPs to avert future issues.

Moreover, Mr. Jetsada expressed concerns over the EC's stringent actions against citizens who photograph or share election ballot information. He criticized the EC's use of lawsuits as a method of enforcement, suggesting that preventative or management strategies would be more effective. He warned that the EC's current approach could lead to countersuits under Section 157 for neglect or misconduct in office, further contributing to unrest. Mr. Jetsada advised the EC to restore public trust by operating transparently and promptly sharing election ballot details to address potential problems before they escalate.
