Jimmy Phikhanet Triumphs with Gold in Kickboxing Despite Injury

Bangkok: “Jimmy” Phikhanet Sukhyik has clinched a gold medal in kickboxing, overcoming a shoulder injury during the competition.

According to Thai News Agency, the event took place at Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus, where Jimmy competed in the Tatami Point Fighting category, men’s 63 kg division. He faced Sipetu Ariyanta from Indonesia in the finals. The match was intense, with both fighters delivering a compelling contest in the first two rounds.

In the third round, Jimmy suffered an injury to his left shoulder, necessitating a brief pause for first aid before he could continue. Despite the setback, he persevered and emerged victorious with a score of 14-7, earning the gold medal.

The Thai kickboxing team also performed well, securing a total of 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, demonstrating their prowess in the sport.
