Kanjana Silpa-archa Elected Leader of Chart Thai Pattana Party Amid Strategic Shifts

Suphan buri: The Chart Thai Pattana Party (CTPP) held its first Annual General Meeting of 2026 at its branch office in Mueang Suphan Buri District, where Kanjana Silpa-archa was elected as the new party leader. This pivotal meeting, chaired by former leader Thira Wongsamut, also focused on electing a new executive committee to guide the party forward.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting saw the selection of a nine-member executive committee. Alongside Kanjana, the committee includes Ekkasit Akrasakkirti as deputy leader, Udomsak Srisuthiwat as party secretary, Nitiwat Chansawang as deputy secretary, Puangrat Chaibut as treasurer, and Pisit Pittayatakulcharoen as membership registrar. Surachai Thinngern, Apiwat Buaphan, and Boonsong Rattanaporn were also appointed as executive committee members.

Kanjana, upon her election, addressed the future of the party amidst accusations of its potential dissolution. She emphasized the ongoing legacy of the party founded by Banharn Silpa-archa and clarified the reasons behind Varawut Silpa-archa and other members moving to the Bhumjaithai Party. Citing the challenges faced by small parties in the political landscape, she expressed gratitude for the continued support from Suphan Buri constituents, despite the party ranking third in the recent 2023 elections.

She further elaborated on the strategic decision for members to align with larger parties to enhance political effectiveness and representation, especially in light of past election outcomes. Kanjana reassured members and supporters that the Chart Thai Party remains active and committed to its foundational ideals, despite not fielding candidates in the current election cycle. She emphasized the enduring presence of Banharn's spirit and legacy within the party and its leaders.
