Bangkok: Move Issara has condemned the Cambodian army for violating Thai sovereignty and causing civilian casualties. “Madam Yok” has expressed condolences for those injured and killed in clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border. She has directed the secretary of Move Issara to establish an evacuation center to assist affected individuals.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Kotchaporn Veroj, also known as Madam Yok, leader of the Independent Progressive Party (INDY), addressed the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, which has led to injuries and fatalities among local residents. As the leader of the Independent Progressive Party, she extended her condolences and concern to Thai citizens affected by these border clashes. She also encouraged the Thai military to protect the nation and expressed hope for a swift resolution to the conflict.
The Independent Progressive Party has strongly condemned the Cambodian army’s actions, citing a breach of Thailand’s sovereignty and international law. Reports indicate that Cambodian forces have laid mines on Thai soil, resulting in two Thai soldiers losing their legs. In a recent escalation, Cambodia allegedly opened fire near a Thai base of operations, leading to civilian injuries and deaths. The party described this as a massacre of innocents and called for local residents and soldiers to defend Thailand’s sovereignty and safety.
Ms. Kotchaporn has tasked Mr. Chanchai Toprueksa, Secretary-General of the Move Independent Party, and Mr. Nares Kerddee, an executive committee member, with setting up shelters and providing for the affected populace. These efforts include ensuring accommodation, food, and water for civilians and soldiers in the region.
Mr. Chanchai reported on the establishment of evacuation centers at Phaisan Samakkhi School and Wat Pa Phaisan, Tambon Phaisan, Amphoe Prakhon Chai, Buriram Province. Plans are underway to consolidate these centers for better management. Currently, around 50 individuals, including children and the elderly, are receiving care in what is designated as a yellow zone.
Madam Yok has emphasized the importance of safety and regular food supplies. Recently, 30 sets of stretchers, along with food and water, were provided to Tamil Scorpion Rangers at Prasat Ta Kwai, Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. Additionally, a team from Prakhon Chai District delivered supplies and support to soldiers stationed at Prasat Ta Kwai and Prasat Muen Thom.
