Bangkok: Kasikornbank (KBank) has announced a reduction in its lending interest rates by 0.10%, effective from March 2, 2026, as a strategic move to support the ongoing economic recovery.
According to Thai News Agency, the bank's decision aligns with the Monetary Policy Committee's (MPC) initiative to lower the Minimum Lending Rate (MLR) to 6.52%, Minimum Overdraft Rate (MOR) to 6.34%, and Minimum Retail Rate (MRR) to 6.58%.
Mr. Jongrak Rattanapian, President of Kasikornbank, stated that the bank is responding to the MPC's decision to reduce the policy interest rate by 0.25% per year, bringing it from 1.25% to 1.00% per year. This adjustment is intended to bolster the Thai economy, which is currently experiencing uneven recovery, particularly in the export and manufacturing sectors. These sectors are under pressure due to global competition and domestic challenges affecting purchasing power.
The interest rate reduction aims to alleviate financial burdens, enhance liquidity, and provide greater cash flow flexibility for businesses and individuals. Specifically, the interest rate for prime corporate clients with fixed-term loans has been lowered to 6.52%, overdraft facilities for prime corporate clients have been reduced to 6.34%, and the rate for prime retail customers is now 6.58%.
Kasikornbank emphasizes its commitment to supporting large corporations, SMEs, and individual customers by reducing financial costs and boosting confidence in economic recovery. The bank is prepared to provide assistance to customers facing economic difficulties and encourages them to reach out through its service channels for support during this challenging period.
