Koh samui: The wife of French citizen Kevin DiMino has confirmed her intention to appeal the deportation order issued against her husband. Kevin, who owns a zoo on Koh Samui, was detained by immigration officials at the Koh Samui Police Station following a series of incidents that led to the official deportation process being initiated.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kevin DiMino presented himself to Police Colonel Naruwat Phutthaviro, Superintendent of the Immigration Bureau of Surat Thani Province, and Mr. Chare Tungkaew, Deputy District Chief of Koh Samui. During this meeting, the Superintendent read out the deportation order, listing six offenses that were deemed a serious threat to society. These offenses ranged from harassment and assault to inciting division through public posts.
The deportation order cited incidents where Kevin allegedly harassed and verbally abused local language school staff, assaulted a Turkish national, and exhibited disrespectful behavior in public. Further accusations included physical assaults on foreign tourists and threatening behavior on a domestic flight. Following the reading of the deportation order, Kevin was detained at Koh Samui Police Station to document the incident and advance the deportation process. Officials also took measures to separate him from an Israeli national, Mr. Yakov, involved in the case to avoid potential conflicts.
Kevin's wife expressed confusion over the deportation, attributing her husband's inappropriate behavior to provocation and harsh language from others. She emphasized that Kevin's actions were reactions to these provocations and not indicative of his character. She plans to seek legal advice and file an appeal against the deportation order, while also claiming that authorities never attempted to locate Kevin before his detention, despite their assertions.
The Department of Provincial Administration has supported the Minister of Interior's deportation order, describing Kevin's behavior as inappropriate and justifying the necessity of the deportation.
