Bangkok: Preparations are underway to demolish the Khlong Thom Center building as forensic investigators focus on identifying the source of a recent fire. According to Thai News Agency, forensic teams have pinpointed location C as a crucial area to examine before demolition teams start clearing the site. Firefighters continue efforts to manage residual heat within the building through the use of water spraying.

A private safety team, equipped with specialized tools for cutting and dismantling, has inspected the site in preparation for demolition. They observed that water vents installed within the building are operational, with water being periodically sprayed to manage the heat levels. When the spraying stops, the water vents collapse, indicating the ongoing efforts to maintain safety conditions.

Security and demolition teams from Piyamitr Group have been deployed to the scene. They are preparing to use a backhoe to remove debris and obstructions at point C, allowing officials to safely enter and inspect the site. The demolition team plans to only dismantle sections that are necessary for accessing the fire's origin.

The demolition process will begin with clearing obstacles using a backhoe, followed by deploying a drilling rig to create inspection openings. This will enable a thorough investigation into the fire's cause. Forensic officers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) have already conducted an initial examination at the site, spending about 15 minutes on an initial assessment.

Forensic officers have communicated their findings to officials from the Department of Public Works and Town Planning and the DDPM, signaling the next phase of demolition to allow for a more detailed inspection. The forensic team will continue to investigate the area to ascertain the precise cause and origin of the fire.
