Lom sak: A shocking knife attack resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Laksap Khamsoom, the 61-year-old mayor of Ban Tiu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and left his wife, Mrs. Somjit Khamsoom, 60, in critical condition. The assailant attacked the couple at their home in Tan Diao Subdistrict, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province, using a car as a getaway vehicle.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred around 9:40 PM, with Mr. Laksap and Mrs. Somjit being rushed to the hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds to critical areas such as the neck, heart, diaphragm, and chest. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, Mr. Laksap succumbed to his injuries, while Mrs. Somjit's condition remains serious.

Initial investigations reveal that the attack transpired following a conversation between Mr. Laksap and the suspect in the garage of their residence. The dialogue turned violent when the suspect suddenly brandished a knife and stabbed Mr. Laksap. Mrs. Somjit, witnessing the attack, was also injured as she attempted to intervene and subsequently sought refuge inside the house. The suspect then dragged Mr. Laksap approximately 30 meters before fleeing the scene in a black Toyota Vios, with the license plate remaining unidentified.

The police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the brutal attack. Forensic experts from Phetchabun have been called to examine the crime scene thoroughly, while an investigation team is actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect and bring them to justice.
