Bangkok: The King Prajadhipok’s Institute has stepped forward with a donation of 100,000 baht, along with essential supplies, to assist those affected by flooding in the southern region. General Kriangkrai Srirak, the First Vice President of the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Coordination Center, accepted the donation from Mr. Isara Seriwattanawut, the Secretary-General of the King Prajadhipok’s Institute.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Isara emphasized that connections, often perceived negatively, can indeed have a positive impact on society. He highlighted how the collaboration among leaders from different sectors can function as a think tank, offering strategies to involve local communities in flood prevention, response, and recovery, while also addressing immediate needs.
General Kriangkrai called upon the King Prajadhipok’s Institute to propose actionable measures to the government and local authorities for preventing, responding to, and rehabilitating flood-stricken areas. He suggested these measures could serve as models for future disaster management. Addressing the ongoing challenge of providing compensation to affected individuals, he advocated for streamlining the documentation process, as many documents were lost due to the floods. To expedite this, he recommended increasing the number of officials on the ground to assist victims directly, possibly through a one-stop service.
In response to concerns about political implications, General Kriangkrai remarked that political involvement is a normal aspect of resolving public issues, indicating that it could aid in addressing the needs of the people.
