Bangkok: KTC advises members to prepare for secure credit card transactions before traveling during the long holiday weekend to ensure smooth travel and spending, reduce the risk of unexpected incidents, and provide peace of mind throughout the trip. Mr. Raiwin Vorawongsathit, Chief Operating Officer and Merchant Operations Manager at Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC), highlighted the common risks associated with credit cards during travel, such as cards being misplaced or used without authorization due to negligence, especially when stored in overhead compartments on airplanes.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Raiwin pointed out additional risks from scams impersonating airlines, hotels, or tour companies, which often mislead travelers by claiming cancellations and prompting them to rebook through unreliable links or QR codes. KTC advises members to verify travel details through official applications or websites and to avoid untrustworthy links.
KTC has outlined three essential steps for members if they suspect their card's security is compromised during travel. First, members should immediately block or suspend their card by contacting the issuing bank or using the bank's application. Second, they should prioritize card suspension over filing a police report to prevent ongoing unauthorized transactions. Lastly, members are encouraged to rely on self-service systems for managing their cards.
KTC emphasizes the importance of having the bank's application installed and familiarizing oneself with its risk management features for quick response in urgent situations. Mr. Raiwin concluded by recommending that KTC credit card members use the KTC Mobile app to manage their card spending while traveling. The app provides functions like credit limit control, temporary card blocking, and ATM PIN settings. Additionally, LINE Connect integration offers instant notifications of any irregularities, allowing members to promptly address any suspicious activities.
