Bangkok: Lalana Thararudee and Mananchaya Sawangkeaw have become the first two Thai female tennis players to simultaneously enter the world's top 100 in the Women's Professional Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
According to Thai News Agency, the WTA recently released its latest world rankings, where Lalana Thararudee, known as "Ruangkhao," ascended 7 places, moving from 79 to 72. Meanwhile, Mananchaya Sawangkeaw, referred to as "Mai," climbed 8 places, going from 105 to 97. These rankings represent personal bests for both Lalana and Mananchaya in their professional careers.
This achievement is unprecedented in Thai tennis history, as it marks the first time two Thai female players have concurrently reached the top 100 in the global rankings. Prior to this, four Thai female tennis players had entered the top 100 in the women's singles category, but each accomplished this feat at separate times.
