Lightning Strikes Fountain in Wroclaw, Poland, as Children Play Nearby

Bangkok: Lightning struck a fountain in Wroclaw, Poland, while children were playing nearby. Fortunately, no one was injured.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the incident at a fountain next to an auditorium in Wroclaw on Saturday evening, June 20th. Several children were playing in the fountain when a bolt of lightning struck the main nozzle, severely damaging the electrical system, control systems, and lighting for the multimedia show. Fortunately, the fountain absorbed the lightning strike, preventing any injuries to those nearby, including children. Authorities have temporarily suspended the special show and implemented a limited-scale fountain display. Due to the system's complexity, repairs are expected to take several weeks. A public warning was issued urging people to follow safety regulations, including avoiding playing in fountain pools during thunderstorms, to ensure maximum safety.

During this period, a heatwave swept across Europe, leading to severe thunderstorms in many areas of Poland. Over 80,000 lightning strikes were recorded nationwide in the past few days.
