Bangkok: A lone gunman successfully robbed a gold shop in the Sam Khok area of Pathum Thani province, escaping with 52 baht weight of gold valued at over 3.5 million baht. Local police are now actively pursuing the suspect following the brazen daylight robbery.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 5:58 PM at a well-known gold shop in Sam Khok District. The suspect, carrying a handgun, threatened the shop employees and swiftly made off with the gold, which included two 10-baht gold necklaces, four 5-baht gold necklaces, and three 4-baht gold necklaces. The entire robbery was captured on CCTV, showing the suspect entering the shop at 5:56 PM and leaving just two minutes later.

Eyewitnesses reported that the robber approached slowly and calmly before brandishing a short-barreled handgun, causing the employees to duck for cover. He then instructed them to stand and hand over the gold, specifically pointing to larger gold chains. After securing the loot, the robber holstered the gun and exited the shop without haste, speaking with an accent from central Thailand.

Police investigations have revealed that the suspect walked from a nearby village and returned the same way after the robbery. The type of vehicle he may have used remains unidentified. Officers from Sam Khok Police Station and the investigative team are diligently reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses in an effort to quickly apprehend the suspect.
