Bangkok: Police are urgently searching for a lone gunman who robbed a gold shop in a shopping mall in the Sukhumvit area while employees were closing the store. He made off with 149 baht weight of gold and 170,000 baht in cash. According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 11:30 PM on January 30, 2069. Police from the 191 emergency number received a report of the robbery at a well-known gold shop in the shopping mall on Sukhumvit 50, Phra Khanong Subdistrict, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok. Officers from the Phra Khanong Police Station and the 191 emergency number immediately responded to the scene. Initial reports indicate that the perpetrator was a single male wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, and a baseball cap. He used a firearm to rob the gold shop, making off with 149 baht weight of gold and approximately 170,000 baht in cash. His escape route is unknown. The gold shop employee stated that while they were closing the shop, a man entered, poured gasoline, and threatened them w ith a gun, demanding that they hand over the gold and valuables inside. After obtaining the gold and valuables, he fled. The employee then activated the alarm and notified the police. Following the incident, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Pallop Aeromla, Deputy Commissioner, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Chotiwat Lueangwilai, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Investigation Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Witawat Chinkam, Commander of Police Division 5, Pol. Col. Chaiwat Pradabthai, Superintendent of Phra Khanong Police Station, officers from the Metropolitan Police Investigation Center, the Investigation Division of Police Division 5, and the investigation team of Phra Khanong Police Station to immediately apprehend the perpetrators. Further investigation is underway, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area and the escape route of the suspect.
