Bangkok: Lt. Gen. Boonsin clarified his remarks regarding a ceasefire order during the Thai-Cambodian clashes, stating he aimed to avoid rekindling past conflicts or implicating individuals.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army and former commander of the Second Army Region, addressed the incident involving Thai soldiers stepping on a landmine in the Huai Ta Maria area of Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province. He expressed condolences to the soldiers involved and encouraged commanders to continue their duties in preserving national sovereignty.
It is reported that the landmine was newly placed along a route regularly patrolled by troops. Lt. Gen. Boonsin urged for proper procedures to be followed in response to protests or related actions.
During a special lecture at the Pathom Asoke Buddhist Sanctuary in Nakhon Pathom Province, he addressed the Thai-Cambodian clashes that occurred on July 24, 2025, and the subsequent ceasefire ordered on July 28. He clarified that questions about the Ta Kwai Temple issue were common and reiterated that Thailand considers the temple part of its territory. The ceasefire resulted in the cessation of force as of midnight on July 28.
Lt. Gen. Boonsin emphasized the importance of moving forward, discouraging references to past conflicts as they do not benefit Thai society. He acknowledged the efforts of commanders during the period and stressed the need to focus on present and future unity.
He urged against the spread of misinformation that could threaten national unity and confirmed his commitment to his duties as assigned by Gen. Pana Klaewplodthuk, emphasizing the importance of communicating with youth about patriotism. The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army has encouraged him to continue fostering love and unity within the nation.
