Ban fang: A 24-year-old man was apprehended for posting derogatory remarks about the local police on social media, an act committed while under the influence of methamphetamine. When authorities tracked him down, he exhibited signs of nervousness and a subsequent urine test confirmed drug use.
According to Thai News Agency, the young man, identified as Mr. Tim, posted a vulgar message on Facebook questioning the whereabouts and effectiveness of officers at Ban Fang Police Station. The post, which expressed frustration over an unaddressed police report, caught the attention of law enforcement due to its potential to tarnish the police's reputation.
Police traced the origin of the post to a residence in Ban Fang Subdistrict, Khon Kaen Province, where they found Mr. Tim. Upon their arrival, Mr. Tim appeared visibly distressed, which prompted officers to bring him to the police station for further examination.
During questioning, Mr. Tim confessed to having used methamphetamine and attributed his online outburst to a heated argument with his uncle. A hospital-conducted urine test confirmed the presence of methamphetamine, while a background check unveiled his history of drug use and theft.
Initially, Mr. Tim was charged with "drug use." As for the offensive online posts, police documented the incident and issued a formal warning. Mr. Tim later publicly apologized to Ban Fang Police Station on Facebook, acknowledging his actions before being taken into custody for further legal action.
