Man Lost in Sa Kaeo Forest Found After Intense Search

Bangkok: Sa Kaeo A 44-year-old man who got lost in the forest near the Sa Kaeo border while foraging for mushrooms has been found. Villagers from Nong Chan district went into the forest to forage for mushrooms near the border but got lost during heavy rain. Hundreds of officials launched a massive three-hour search before finding them in the darkness.

According to Thai News Agency, the Eastern Command received a report from villagers in the Nong Chan area that a family member had gone missing after entering the forest to forage for wild plants. It was believed that the individual had gotten lost in the national forest reserve, an area bordering Nong Chan and Ang Sila villages in Sa Kaeo Province.

The missing person, identified as Mr. Sakorn, 44, has a pre-existing medical condition and a leg disability. Relatives reported that he rode his motorcycle into the forest to collect mushrooms early in the morning but got lost deep inside and was unable to find his way back. Without a phone, his relatives grew increasingly concerned for his safety and requested immediate assistance from authorities to expedite the search.

By approximately 6:00 PM, a team of over 100 officials from the local administration, community defense volunteers, and rangers commenced a thorough search on foot. Despite continuous rain and dense forest terrain, officials persevered and found Mr. Sakorn at 9:00 PM. Weakened by dehydration and starvation, he was provided with first aid before being safely escorted out of the forest.

Mr. Sakorn recounted his experience, explaining that he went into the forest to look for mushrooms at 9 a.m. and accidentally wandered too deep into the woods. As the day progressed, he realized he couldn't remember the way back. By afternoon, he was hungry and relied on rainwater, having brought no supplies. As evening fell, he decided to rest, hoping to navigate his way out in the morning. At around 9 p.m., he noticed a light in the distance and, despite the rain, attempted to call for help. His attempts were unheard, prompting him to cautiously follow the light, which eventually led him to the rescuing officials.
