Narathiwat: Marine police rushed to assist a fishing crew member whose arm was severed in the middle of the sea after it was accidentally caught in a winch while retrieving a fishing net. Officers transported him to shore and then to the hospital, where he is reported to be safe.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place last night when the Tak Bai Marine Police, in collaboration with the Su-ngai Kolok Cheng Mu Tarn Nam Jai Foundation, the Department of Fisheries, and soldiers from the 4th Border Defense Company, responded to a distress call. The call reported an accident involving a crew member on a fishing boat in Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province.
The accident victim, identified as Mr. Suwan, 57, was found on the boat with his right arm severed. The injury occurred when his arm was caught in the winch. Rescuers initially provided first aid to stop the bleeding and coordinated with relevant agencies to arrange an emergency vehicle to transport the injured to Tak Bai Hospital. Despite challenges posed by strong waves and poor visibility, the rescue mission was successfully executed. Doctors have since provided Mr. Suwan with initial medical care, and he is now in a stable condition.
