The Meteorological Department warns of unstable weather on 20-21 Oct 2024. Thailand will experience heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain with strong winds in some areas. The Meteorological Department has issued an announcement, number 7, regarding the unstable weather in Thailand during 20-21 October 2024. The high-pressure area or cold air mass from China will spread down to cover the upper North, Northeast, and South China Sea. This will cause the easterly and southeasterly winds to bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to cover the lower North, Central, and East regions. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough will pass through the upper South. This will cause heavy rain in many areas of Thailand, and very heavy rain with strong gusts of wind in some areas may occur in the early stages. People in Thailand are asked to be careful of dangers from thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind, heavy to very heavy rain, and accumulated rain which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, espec ially on hillsides near waterways and lowlands. Avoid being in open areas, under large trees and weak billboards, and take care of your health due to the changing weather conditions. The provinces expected to be affected are as follows: 20 October 2024 Northern region: Tak and Kamphaeng Phet provinces; Northeastern region: Nakhon Ratchasima and Buriram provinces; Central region: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, including Bangkok and its vicinity; Eastern region : Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces; Southern region: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, and Phang Nga provinces. October 21, 2024 Central region: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Samut Songkhram provinces Eastern region: Chonburi and Rayong provinces Southern region: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces For waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, they are moderate . The Andaman Sea has waves 1-2 meters high, the Gulf of Thailand has waves approximately 1 meter high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves are higher than 2 meters. Sailors in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand should avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
