Militant with Outstanding Warrants Killed in Yala Province Shootout

Yala: A fierce shootout erupted in Ban Po Yani, Yala province, resulting in the death of a militant suspect. The confrontation began after negotiations to persuade him to surrender were unsuccessful. The suspect, identified as a leader of a violent extremist group, had four outstanding arrest warrants for security-related offenses.

According to Thai News Agency, the deceased militant was implicated in several significant incidents, including an attack on the Tha Saap gas station and ambushes of government officials in Mueang District, Yala Province. Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chalermsri, Commander of Provincial Police Region 9, confirmed the suspect's involvement and revealed that he had been hiding in the Ban Po Yani area since midnight before the shootout occurred.

The area around Ban Po Yani remains cordoned off for security reasons, and authorities have upgraded security measures to reassure the public. The police continue to investigate the situation and maintain a heightened state of alert in the region.
