Minister of Education Champions “Mon Thong Fever” Phenomenon

Bangkok: From the “Mon Thong Fever” trend in the 7-a-side student football competition, “7HD Sports Champion Cup 2025”, amidst the strong cheers from the stadium and the impression of people across the country.

According to Thai News Agency, Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, stated that the Ministry of Education recognizes the power of youth, teachers, parents, and communities working together to drive the dreams of Thai children forward, creating a phenomenon admired nationwide. This positive force reflects the value of the education system, which thrives through the cooperation of all parties.

The Ministry of Education has a plan to proceed from this point forward: to transform the support power generated by the commitment of all sectors into a sustainable support system and provide opportunities for all Thai children from all areas to grow to their full potential.

The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has implemented the Sports Classroom Project to systematically develop students’ athletic abilities. Currently, schools with sports classrooms are located in eight provinces and four regions across the country. Support is provided, including training fields, student housing, sports equipment, and competition funds. Despite budgetary constraints preventing implementation in all areas, the project represents an important step in creating systematic opportunities across all regions nationwide. This aims to develop Thai children with multiple intelligences and enable them to pursue stable and sustainable careers in sports.

The Ministry of Education is preparing to adapt the successful public-private-civil-society collaboration model, which has helped develop over 7,000 schools under the Connext ED and Partnership School Projects, as a guideline for promoting sports. This initiative aims to create provincial and regional cooperation networks, supporting infrastructure, coaches, and competitive opportunities for students in all regions on a continuous and systematic basis.

“Mon Thong Fever” represents the power of Thai children who refuse to give in to limitations. The Ministry of Education will ensure that this power does not end with cheers, but becomes a system that creates opportunities for all Thai children, because every field is a classroom, and every school is a place of hope for the country.
