Buriram: Ayrin, the deputy government spokesperson, has revealed that the Ministry of Education has suspended a controversial physical education teacher following allegations of sexual abuse. The Ministry has also dispatched psychologists to offer mental health support to affected students.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Ministry of Education has launched an immediate investigation after reports surfaced of a physical education teacher in Buriram province being accused of sexually abusing students multiple times. These allegations represent a severe breach of professional ethics and policies set forth by the Ministry, contradicting their "Excellence in Learning, Morality" policy designed to ensure schools are safe environments.
Ms. Airin further detailed that the Office of the Basic Education Commission has directed the regional education office to take firm disciplinary actions. The accused teacher has been suspended pending further investigation, and a psychologist has been sent to provide support to the students and their families. The situation is being closely monitored, while police have already charged the teacher with indecent conduct based on allegations from parents.
The Ministry of Education has mandated all regional education offices to rigorously oversee schools to ensure adherence to safety protocols and emergency plans. The mental health of students is prioritized, with a commitment to taking swift action against those responsible. Additionally, any negligence by administrators or supervisors will be thoroughly investigated to prevent future incidents. Concerns about legal process fairness have been addressed, as no assistance or interference in the investigation will be tolerated, and decisive disciplinary and criminal actions will be pursued if necessary.
