Thai Government to Support Swedish Private Sector in Telecom Development

Bangkok: The government is ready to support Swedish private sector participation in developing communications in Thailand. Supamas Isarabhakdi, attending the Ericsson Thailand: 120 Years of Reaching New Horizons event, stated that the Thai government is ready to continue supporting the major Swedish private company in developing Thailand's telecommunications system, in order to strengthen the good relationship between the two countries.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Issaraprakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, attended the Ericsson Thailand: 120 Years of Reaching New Horizons event, along with H.Mrs. Anna Hammargren, Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand. Ms. Issaraprakdi stated that Ericsson Thailand is a key partner in the continuous development of the country's telecommunications infrastructure. Over the years, Ericsson has played a vital role in developing Thailand's telecommunications system, from telephone switching systems to the current 5G technology. This is a crucial mechanism for improving the quality of life for citizens and enhancing the country's competitiveness.

Ms. Suphamas stated that the government prioritizes the development of digital technology infrastructure, which is a fundamental factor in improving the quality of life for citizens and a crucial tool in reducing social inequality. This is driven through three main factors: 1. Citizens: The government focuses on creating opportunities for access to knowledge and services for people in remote areas, thereby opening up opportunities and reducing social inequality. 2. Society: Utilizing 5G and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies to develop smart cities, healthcare systems, and efficient environmental resource management. 3. Economy: Driving the Thailand 4.0 policy towards becoming a digital hub in Southeast Asia, while supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through robust digital infrastructure. She expressed confidence that the strong relationship between Thailand and the Kingdom of Sweden, as well as Ericsson, will remain robust and that cooperation in innovation will continue to propel Thailan d towards a sustainable future.
