Manila: MITSKI is delivering a cutting-edge experience for fans in Southeast Asia, bringing his new album, Nothing's About to Happen to Me, to life ahead of his concert tour in July.
According to Thai News Agency, "I'll Change for You" is a mid-tempo, nostalgic song that showcases Mitski's beautiful vocals amidst an intricate musical arrangement. The music video, directed by Lexie Alley and edited by Rena Johnson, immerses viewers in the chaotic universe of Tansy House. It is rendered using a frame-by-frame film printing technique, combined with hand-painted details and subtle distortions, evoking the feeling of a film reel discovered amidst the cluttered and dilapidated interior of the house.
The album, Nothing's About to Happen to Me, is set to release on February 27th under the Dead Oceans label. It tells a story about a reclusive woman living in a dilapidated house, alienated from the outside world but feeling free within her own home. To bring this world to life, a Tansy House Listening event on February 21st invites fans to the 'house' to listen to the album before anyone else, along with a scrapbooking activity. Participants at participating record stores will receive Tansy House letterhead to write, draw, or create scrapbooks while listening. The completed artwork will be compiled onto a poster on Mitski's table for display at the store.
Stores can also submit photos of their decorated posters and favorite pages for a chance to be featured on Instagram via @TheMitskiVerse. The album is also available for pre-order with release date pickup at participating stores.
