Bangkok: The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is urgently addressing a water leakage issue in the subway tunnel at Wongwian Yai intersection, ensuring strict adherence to engineering and safety standards. Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, inspected the site alongside Mr. Panya Chupanich, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Head of the Transportation Task Force.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong emphasized the importance of resolving the issue promptly, with a focus on engineering principles and safety. He instructed the MRTA to expedite collaboration with relevant agencies to survey, inspect, and assess the structural integrity of buildings in the surrounding area. Additionally, the MRTA has coordinated with the Khlong San District Office of Bangkok for inspections, and contractors are on-site to assist affected individuals and inform the public about traffic diversions.
The traffic diversion plan for Prachathipok Road, necessary for soil improvement work, will redirect traffic on both outbound and inbound lanes from Ban Khaek Intersection to the end of Prachathipok Road, Wongwian Yai side. This diversion will be effective from July 9, 2026, starting at 5:30 PM and will remain in effect 24 hours a day. Motorists can use Lad Ya Road as an alternative route for travel towards Wongwian Yai and Phra Pok Klao Bridge.
