Bangkok: The Department of Intellectual Property is organizing Thailand's first TCEX 2026 from July 9-12, bringing together over 250 Thai characters, content, games, and creative works. The event will also feature a Business Matching platform connecting copyright holders, investors, and licensing buyers from around the world, aiming to generate 500 million baht in business value. The goal is to boost Thailand's creative industry and support SMEs in expanding their intellectual property into the international market.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce, is organizing the Thailand Character and Content Expo 2026 (TCEX 2026), an international character and content licensing exhibition, from July 9-12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Paragon Hall, SCBx NEXT TECH on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon and Siam Center. Admission is free for the public. The event aims to showcase the potential of Thai creators and create business opportunities in intellectual property, particularly for SMEs, enabling them to leverage intellectual property to create added value and expand trade opportunities.
Ms. Oramon Sapthaveetham, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, stated that this event is part of the Ministry of Commerce's policy to enhance the capabilities of Thai entrepreneurs, especially SMEs, enabling them to utilize intellectual property to create added value, expand trade opportunities, and increase their competitiveness in the global market. It also aims to promote intellectual property as a key mechanism for driving the country's creative economy.
This year's event, held under the theme "The Multiverse of Creativity," brings together the works of over 250 Thai artists, creators, studios, and entrepreneurs across four industry groups: Character and Art, Content and Story, Game and Interactive, and Creative Lifestyle. Leading agencies and organizations also participated, showcasing the potential for commercializing intellectual property.
A key highlight of the event is the Business Matching activity, providing an opportunity for entrepreneurs, copyright holders, investors, licensing buyers, and business partners from both domestic and international markets to negotiate collaborations on investment, licensing, and expanding business networks, thereby propelling Thailand's creative industries into the global market.
In addition, there will be seminars from experts in the creative industries covering topics such as intellectual property protection, character creation, developing novels and content into businesses, using AI in creative work, intellectual property valuation, and strategies for expanding Thai IP into international markets. There will also be fan meets, a character parade, board game competitions, workshops, and intellectual property consulting services (IP Clinic) from experts to support entrepreneurs in comprehensively developing their work into commercial ventures.
