Bangkok, "Suriya" is serious! Instructed the MRTA to send a letter to NBM, the concessionaire of the Pink Line electric train, to proceed with the highest penalty after the incident of a train door opening in the middle of the journey. He said! There is no compromise or negotiation. Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed that regarding the case of some doors of the Pink Line MRT opening at Lat Phrao Station (PK18) on the morning of July 4, 2024, he did not ignore the incident that occurred because it resulted in a lack of safety for passengers. Therefore, he has instructed the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to take the highest penalty against Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM), the concessionaire, as specified in the contract. In this case, it is a matter of public transportation safety for the public. In addition, over the past year, the MRT Pink and Yellow Line projects operated by BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited (B TS) have had many accidents. This matter cannot be compromised or negotiated. However, the MRTA has been assigned to send a letter to the concessionaire regarding the punishment that will be taken from the incident. In addition, if the measures for implementation are not expedited as specified in the contract, the work will be recorded and points will be deducted, including being prohibited from participating in the bidding for the ministry's work. The contractor's hierarchy will also be reduced in order to create confidence for the public and emphasize maximum safety. The MRTA reported that the incident occurred at 7:01 a.m. on July 4, 2024, when train number 10 was moving from Lat Phrao Station (PK18) to Nonthaburi Civic Center Station (PK01). The train staff heard an unusual noise, similar to an object hitting the train several times, so they immediately pressed the emergency stop button and notified the Control Center (CCR) of the incident. An inspection found that the train door had caught a passenger' s bag stuck on the outside door of the last car still on the platform. Then the control room ordered the train staff to open the door that was holding the bag by using the train key to open the door, but they could not open the door. The control room ordered the train staff to cancel the automatic train control system. When the train staff tried to control the train themselves, due to a misunderstanding with the control room, they opened the platform door where the bag was stuck, creating a safety hazard for passengers.
