Myanmar Migrant Worker Fatally Stabs Child in Drug-Fueled Rage

Chumphon:A Myanmar migrant worker addicted to methamphetamine has been arrested after fatally stabbing a 2-year-old child and injuring the child's uncle in a violent outburst.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred in the Pak Nam Chumphon Subdistrict, where police responded to reports of a stabbing at a row of houses. They discovered the body of a 2-year-8-month-old Myanmar boy with multiple knife wounds. The child's uncle, Mr. Joe, was also injured while trying to protect the child. Emergency medical personnel provided first aid, and his condition is stable.

The attacker, identified as 29-year-old Myanmar national Mr. Teu Tung Lai, initially fled the scene but was apprehended by fellow workers who then brutally beat him. The police seized a 12-inch knife, 8 methamphetamine pills, and drug paraphernalia from the suspect's shoulder bag. Mr. Teu Tung Lai admitted to a heavy methamphetamine addiction and claimed he was provoked by verbal abuse from the child's mother, leading to the tragic events.

Mr. Soe Ta Naing, the child's father, expressed disbelief over the attack, noting that they had lived peacefully in the community for over a decade. The suspect, who had recently moved into a neighboring rental, now faces multiple charges, including causing death by assault and drug-related offenses.
