Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is preparing to file a lawsuit against 44 former Move Forward Party MPs in the Supreme Court on April 9. The NACC Secretary-General confirmed that if the complaint documents are found to be complete, the case will be immediately submitted to the Supreme Court.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, discussed the progress in submitting the petition to the Supreme Court regarding the case of 44 former MPs from the Move Forward Party for serious ethical violations in their petition to amend Section 112 of the Criminal Code. He stated that officials are currently expediting the photocopying of 56 sets of supporting documents, totaling tens of thousands of pages, to be sent to the Supreme Court panel and the Supreme Court Secretariat.
On April 9, 2026, officials will submit all documents to the Secretariat. If the documents are deemed complete, the petition can be submitted to the Supreme Court on April 9th. However, if the documents are incomplete, the submission to the Supreme Court may be postponed.
Mr. Surapong confirmed that the NACC is working as quickly as possible and will submit the case immediately on April 9th if everything is ready. If the NACC submits the petition to the Supreme Court on April 9th, it will coincide with the government's policy statement to Parliament. He affirmed that this process is definitely not politically motivated. If the case is submitted to the Supreme Court on that date, the process is simply to file a petition. The Supreme Court will then appoint a panel to examine and consider the NACC's petition before issuing an order to accept the petition and whether to suspend the accused from duty. The exact date of this decision is still unknown and rests with the Supreme Court.
