Nan: Flash floods and sudden inundation occurred in several districts of Nan province after heavy rain throughout the night, particularly in Pua district, which was severely affected. Many roads were also flooded. The province has declared an evacuation center in Pua district.
According to Thai News Agency, several districts in Nan province experienced flash floods and torrential water flows after heavy to very heavy rainfall throughout the night. Pua district was particularly hard hit, with water surging into the Pua and Khwang rivers. Flash floods inundated Ban Rong and several other communities, with water levels rising rapidly and submerging homes, some almost completely covering the first floor. In Ban Kaem, residents, especially families with young children as young as six months old, requested assistance.
In addition, several routes are flooded, including Highway 101, the Pua-Chiang Klang section, making it impassable for all vehicles. Meanwhile, a bridge has reportedly collapsed on the Pua-Bo Kluea route, also making it impassable. Several schools have announced closures for safety reasons. The province has also established evacuation centers in Pua district.
The Nan Municipality has issued a notice advising communities within the Nan municipal area that are at risk and have been flooded in 2006 and 2024 to move belongings to higher ground and prepare for the evacuation of vulnerable groups, as flash flood water levels in the northern areas of the Lam Yao and Lam Wa rivers have risen this morning.
