Nap Narongdet Assigns Lawyer to File Complaint Over 100 kg Bribery Allegation

Bangkok: “Nap Narongdet” has taken legal steps to address allegations involving a 100 kg bribe by having his lawyer file a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division. The complaint targets individuals connected to the dissemination of news concerning the bribe, which implicated certain court executives.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chalermchai Khiawpradit, along with Mr. Wirasak Nakin, both lawyers representing the businessman Mr. Nap Narongdet, visited the Central Investigation Bureau’s Complaint Center on Phahonyothin Road, Chatuchak District, Bangkok. They filed a formal complaint with the officers of Division 1, Crime Suppression Division, seeking an investigation and prosecution of those involved in the bribery case.

Mr. Chalermchai, acting as Mr. Nap Narongdet’s legal advisor, revealed that the complaint pertains to misconduct following reports from a news agency. Since January, the reports have alleged that the Judicial Commission (JC) determined a judge and a deputy chief judge of a Bangkok court committed serious disciplinary offenses, leading to their suspension. Furthermore, another judge was reportedly involved in a case of a 100-kilogram bribe. Mr. Chalermchai acknowledged the similarity between these reports and a complaint he previously submitted to the JC, though he remains uncertain if they are the same, pending the JC’s decision.

Mr. Nap, facing allegations of involvement with a 100 million baht bribery case, has denied any such accusations. He has reported the matter to the Crime Suppression Division to ascertain the veracity of the claims and to determine the identities of those giving and receiving bribes. Mr. Nap also approached the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assert his innocence and prompt a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible. He emphasized the importance of transparency in the justice process, underscoring the need for organizations to act against corruption.

In response to slanderous remarks made against Mr. Nap concerning the bribery case, legal actions are being considered. Investigators have begun reviewing the evidence presented by Mr. Nap’s attorney, as they prepare to proceed with further legal measures.
