Bangkok: A 22-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving after crashing a 34 million baht supercar into a luxury vehicle, leading to a fiery accident. The incident, captured by CCTV on Phutthamonthon Road, involved a high-speed collision that caused both vehicles to burst into flames. The driver admitted to being distracted by his phone at the time of the crash and has agreed to compensate the other parties involved.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred in the express lane near Soi Borommaratchachonnani 76, where a supercar, a luxury car, and a covered pickup truck collided. Footage revealed the sequence of events, with the supercar impacting the luxury car, lifting it onto its roof, and subsequently causing both vehicles to lose control and hit the pickup truck, which overturned as a result. The collision culminated in the cars skidding into a roadside barrier and catching fire. Despite the dramatic scene, both drivers managed to escape without life-threatening injuries.
At the scene, the luxury car driver was found injured and was transported to a hospital for treatment, while the drivers of the supercar and the pickup truck sustained minor injuries. Reporters later observed the wreckage at the Thammasala Police Station, where the Ferrari F8 TRIBUTO supercar and the Mercedes-Benz C 220 luxury car were both seen severely damaged by the fire. The pickup truck also suffered damage to its hood.
Following the incident, Mr. Fierce, the supercar driver, and his father appeared at the police station to provide a statement. While Mr. Fierce confessed to using his mobile phone while driving, which led to the crash, he has taken responsibility by compensating the affected parties. His father expressed regret over the situation, emphasizing that the supercar was a family-owned vehicle insured for 24 million baht and assured that his son was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Pol. Col. Boonroj Lojaya, the Superintendent of Thammasala Police Station, disclosed that Mr. Thanawut, the luxury car driver and a department store branch manager, was returning home when his vehicle was hit. The crash also involved Mr. Thongpitak, the pickup truck driver. Although initial tests showed no alcohol consumption by the drivers, further blood alcohol results from the hospital are pending.
