Nationwide Ceremonies Announced to Honor Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s Passing

Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has directed governors across the nation to organize ceremonies on June 13 to offer water in a traditional ritual to cleanse the body of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha before her portrait.

According to Thai News Agency, the Permanent Secretary has instructed the governors to inform and encourage public participation in this ceremony. The Royal Household Bureau issued an announcement on June 12, 2026, regarding the passing of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi, Krom Luang Rajasarinisiripatchara Mahavajrarajathida. In light of this, another announcement detailed the arrangements for the bathing and paying of respects to the body of the late princess, scheduled for June 13, 2026, at Sahathai Samakhom Hall inside the Grand Palace from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the ceremony should be conducted nationwide, allowing citizens from all provinces to partake in this significant event. The governors of all 76 provinces have been instructed to hold similar ceremonies at provincial halls, district offices, temples, or other appropriate venues. Participants are encouraged to wear mourning attire, with government officials and state enterprise employees donning their regular white uniforms with mourning armbands. Venues should be suitably decorated with black and white fabric to reflect the honor of Her Royal Highness. Additionally, a book of condolences will be available for the public to sign over a 15-day period, from June 12-26, 2026.
