Nattapong Denies All Charges in Gulf Defamation Case

Bangkok: Nattapong has denied all charges in the defamation case against Gulf. The court has scheduled witness hearings to begin in October.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, gave an interview after giving testimony in court in the defamation case against Gulf Energy Development Company, stating that it was following due process. He said he came today to submit testimony and evidence to the court, following his earlier bail application.

Denying all charges and maintaining his innocence, the next step will be to schedule witness hearings, initially scheduled for October. Details of the witnesses will not be disclosed to protect their privacy, as they will be testifying on behalf of the accused who have championed energy policies in Thailand and opposed energy monopolies.

As for Mr. Suphachot Chaiyasat, a candidate for Member of Parliament on the party-list of the People's Party, he is scheduled to submit evidence and testimony this afternoon. The court hearing for Mr. Woraphop Wiriyaroj, also a party-list candidate of the People's Party, is scheduled for May.
