Samut prakan: NIDA Poll has released the results of its "2016 Election in Samut Prakan" survey, indicating a clearer political climate. The majority of respondents support Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, as Prime Minister with 31.96% of the vote, followed by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul of the Bhumjaithai Party with 20.15%. Meanwhile, 16.31% remain undecided. This reflects the increasingly intense competition for the leadership of the government since the start of the election year.
According to Thai News Agency, the survey also indicates that the People's Party is likely to win the hearts of Samut Prakan residents in both the constituency and party-list systems. In the constituency elections, the People's Party led with 42.46% of the vote, clearly ahead of the Bhumjaithai Party and the Pheu Thai Party. Meanwhile, in the party-list elections, the People's Party remains in first place with 41.71%, suggesting it has the potential to sweep key seats in this strategic province in the central region.
Meanwhile, a survey by Suan Dusit Poll revealed another finding: most Thais have a "slight" understanding of the 2017 Constitution, viewing it as something distant, but acknowledging its direct impact on daily life. Academics point out that the overall picture reflects increasing political awareness among the public, and the 2026 election may be a true battle that determines the country's future direction.
