Kanchanaburi: There have been no reports of clashes in Myanmar near the Thai border. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, addressed concerns about potential conflicts in the Dawei region of Myanmar, which is adjacent to the Bong Ti-Huai Mong pass in Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province. He stated that he has not yet received detailed information about any such incidents and emphasized the necessity of verifying the facts before drawing conclusions.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham highlighted the importance of understanding the situation thoroughly due to its sensitive nature and potential implications for international relations. When questioned about the possibility of issuing a warning letter if fighting were to occur near the border, he stressed the need to first gather all relevant details, noting that assumptions should not be made in the absence of verified information.
Mr. Phumtham also mentioned that existing procedures between neighboring countries address potential intrusions and coordination in line with the actual situation. These protocols are designed to manage relations and ensure stability along the border.
