OBEC to Review Student Admission Guidelines for 2026 Academic Year

Bangkok: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is considering reviewing its student admission guidelines for the 2026 academic year. OBEC reiterated that educational institutions admitting students for the 2026 academic year are strictly prohibited from accepting money in exchange for school placements. They are considering reviewing these guidelines for student admissions in the 2026 academic year.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), revealed that following the OBEC’s announcement of the student admission calendar for grades 7 and 10 in the 2026 academic year, particularly for regular classrooms expected to see a large number of applicants, with applications open from March 19-23, 2026, he plans to hold a meeting with senior OBEC executives. The meeting aims to review and update the student admission guidelines for the 2026 academic year to ensure they are current and relevant. Feedback will be solicited from relevant agencies, including administrators of educational service areas and school administrators in Bangkok, its surrounding areas, and representatives from other provinces, to incorporate useful opinions into the final guidelines for student admissions in 2026.
