'Chan Phuangphet' may have to stop performing his duties as the president of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization because he has an old pending case filed by the NACC regarding allegations of corruption, and the court has already accepted the case. In the case of Mr. Chan Phuangphet, a candidate from the Pheu Thai Party, narrowly defeating Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Toopkrachang in the election for the president of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, successfully reclaiming his old title for the 4th term, the next step is the duty of the Election Commission (EC) to consider and certify the election results, after which Mr. Chan will officially assume his duties in the position. The latest (July 1) news report stated that if Mr. Chan receives certification from the Election Commission, he may not be able to perform his duties as the President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization because Mr. Chan was indicted by the NACC when he was the President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization regarding the purchase of relief bags in 2012. Currently, the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases Region 1 has issued an order to accept the indictment and the case is under consideration by the Criminal Court. However, even though at the time the Criminal Court issued an order to affirm the indictment, Mr. Chan did not hold the position of President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, when Mr. Chan was re-elected to hold the position of President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization for another term, Mr. Chan had to stop performing his duties according to Section 93 in conjunction with Section 81 of the NACC Act 2018, which is consistent with the opinion of the Council of State, Case No. 1486/2022.
