On Nut Waste-to-Energy Plant Set to Begin Operations in March 2026

Bangkok: The On Nut waste-to-energy plant is slated to begin operations by March 2026, bringing significant advancements in waste management and energy production to the Prawet District.

According to Thai News Agency, NewSky Co., Ltd. recently engaged with the On Nut community to present its environmental plan ahead of the plant's operational testing. New Sky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., which oversees the waste incineration project with a capacity of at least 1,000 tons per day, announced that it is moving forward with the initiative. The company conducted small group meetings known as Community of Practice (CoP) sessions from February 19 to March 1, 2026, to communicate project details, safety standards, and mitigation measures to the local community.

Mr. Noppadol Pruksawan, Managing Director, emphasized that these CoP meetings aimed to clarify information and address environmental impacts through direct engagement with two main communities in Prawet District: the Phatthana Salaloy Village Community and the Thep Raksa Community. Representatives from the Prawet District Office and the On Nut Waste Disposal Center participated in the meetings, ensuring accurate comprehension before the waste collection and system testing set for March 2026.

Furthermore, Consultant of Technology Co., Ltd. (COT), serving as the environmental consultant, reported on ongoing project monitoring and plans for operational expansion to neighboring communities. This reflects the company's dedication to advancing the project while fostering community development and environmental protection, with a focus on local resident participation to sustainably enhance quality of life.

The waste incineration project, located on a 30-rai plot at Soi On Nut 86, aims to manage at least 1,000 tons of waste per day, with a maximum capacity of 1,600 tons. Operating under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the project is expected to enhance Bangkok's environmentally friendly waste management efficiency.
