Nonthaburi: An online seller is in a panic and has filed a complaint against a swimming instructor after hiring him to teach her swimming one-on-one because she planned to travel to the Maldives. In the end, he was sexually assaulted in the pool at her condo.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage in a condo swimming pool, which the victim, Ms. Mind, 26 years old, an online seller, used as evidence to file a complaint with the investigation officer at Bang Sri Muang Police Station, Nonthaburi Province, to prosecute Mr. Nu, a swimming instructor, after being sexually assaulted. The clip shows Mr. Nu teaching swimming by bringing his face close to Ms. Mind and at some point coming up behind her. Ms. Mind felt bad, as if she was being threatened and sexually assaulted. The incident occurred on the evening of April 10, 2025, at a condo swimming pool in Mueang Nonthaburi District.
Ms. Mind, the victim, stated that before the incident, she planned to travel to the Maldives, so she posted in a Facebook group looking for a swimming teacher, preferably a female teacher. Then Mr. Nu contacted her on Facebook, presenting himself as an experienced swimming teacher who could teach her to swim quickly and also teach her scuba diving for free. She was interested, and when she looked at Mr. Nu’s profile, she saw that he had a good job as a military officer. She thought that if she studied with this teacher, she would learn quickly, so she agreed to hire him to teach her swimming for 1-3 hours per session at 1,200 baht per session. He focused on evening lessons because the teacher had a full-time job. The first lesson was at the condo swimming pool at 6:00 p.m. The teacher claimed that there was a traffic jam and asked to postpone the lesson to 7:00 p.m. When she arrived, she taught her swimming as usual.
But things started to go wrong when, on the second lesson, the teacher got closer, taught me to control my breathing by bringing my face so close that they were almost touching each other, tried to grab my hand and put it around the teacher’s waist, hugged me from behind, and pulled me into the water until I reached the point where I really couldn’t take it anymore. The swimming teacher started grabbing me from my waist and moved down, as if trying to get my hand closer. So I pushed him away and told the swimming teacher that it was too close, so I asked to stop the lesson first because I didn’t feel good anymore. The more I studied, the more I wasted my energy. The swimming teacher told me, ‘It’s not worth it yet.’ So I asked to take a break to go to the bathroom and ran away from the pool immediately.
Until the next morning, I came to read the message and found that the swimming instructor had typed a message saying, “I’m sorry if I did anything to make you feel bad.” But after talking to the group admin, we all agreed that teaching swimming doesn’t need to be this close, and this kind of behavior has probably been done many times already, so I came to report it to the police so that women who may not know that this situation means they are being harassed.
Pol. Col. Somchai Chaengthamma, Superintendent of Bang Sri Muang Police Station, said that after receiving the complaint from the victim, they will thoroughly investigate. If it is found that any charges are involved, legal action will be taken. He also wanted to warn the public that sometimes contacting via Facebook is dangerous. He wanted people to contact through acquaintances or reliable sources because nowadays there are many forms.
