Bangkok: The Parliament laid a wreath at the monument of King Rama VII on Constitution Day. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament led a delegation to lay a wreath at the monument of King Rama VII in commemoration of Constitution Day, December 10. Political parties and various organizations also participated in the ceremony.
According to Thai News Agency, on Constitution Day, December 10th, the Parliament allowed political parties and various organizations to lay floral wreaths and pay homage to the Royal Monument of King Prajadhipok at the Parliament Museum. Mr. Chaiya Phromma, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, presided over the ceremony and laid a floral wreath on behalf of the House of Representatives. Various organizations also participated by laying floral wreaths, including Mr. Mongkol Surasatcha, President of the Senate, on behalf of the Senate; Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, on behalf of the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives; Ms. Suppaporn Sukphum, Deputy Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, on behalf of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives; and Mrs. Pannita Sathantraiphop, Secretary-General of the Senate. A floral arrangement was presented as a tribute on behalf of the Office of the Secretary-General of the Senate, and Dr. Issara Seriwattanawut, Secretary-
General of the King Prajadhipok Institute, presented a floral arrangement as a tribute on behalf of the King Prajadhipok Institute.
In addition, representatives from various political parties presented floral wreaths as a sign of respect on behalf of their respective parties, including the Pheu Thai Party, led by Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, the party leader; the Democrat Party, led by Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the party leader, and Mr. Chuan Leekpai; the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, led by Mr. Wittaya Kaewphradai, the deputy leader of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party; as well as representatives from the Palang Pracharath Party, the Prachachart Party, the Kla Tham Party, and the Chart Pattana Party.
The first Constitution Day celebration was held on December 10, 1932, at Sanam Luang, the day King Prajadhipok granted the Constitution. It was held to publicize and educate the public about the meaning of the Constitution and its six principles. Since then, December 10th of each year has been observed as Constitution Day of the Kingdom of Thailand.
