Pasak Dam at Full Capacity, Increasing Water Release

Lopburi: The Royal Irrigation Department revealed that the Pasak Jolasid Dam is reaching its full capacity, necessitating increased discharge rates to cope with Tropical Storm Kalmaegi. Residents of the Pasak River Basin are warned to watch for a 1.5-1.8 meter rise in water levels, emphasizing that water levels downstream of the dam will remain within the river.

According to Thai News Agency, the Pasak Jolasid Water Supply and Maintenance Project in Lopburi Province reported the latest water situation today at 6:00 a.m. The water level in the Pasak Jolasid Dam reservoir was recorded at 994.46 million cubic meters, or 103.59% of capacity. This indicates that the dam has reached full capacity, and water continues to flow in continuously.

Water flow into the reservoir is currently at 305.38 cubic meters per second, equivalent to 26.38 million cubic meters per day. This morning’s discharge rate was measured at 350.47 cubic meters per second, or 30.28 million cubic meters per day. However, with anticipated heavy rainfall in the upper region and the potential impact of Tropical Storm Kalmaegi between November 7th and 9th, the water discharge rate is set to increase to 450 cubic meters per second this evening to maintain safe water levels. This increase will be implemented gradually in a “step-by-step” manner.

The increased water release is projected to raise the water level in the Pa Sak River by approximately 1.50-1.80 meters but will remain within the river to prevent overflowing. Relevant agencies and residents along the Pa Sak River, particularly in Lop Buri, Saraburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya provinces, are urged to monitor riverside properties and closely follow water situation announcements.
