Patthida Wongsingh Wins Gold in Women’s 69 kg Weightlifting at SEA Games

Chonburi: 19-year-old rising star Patthida Wongsingh clinched a gold medal in the women’s 69 kg weightlifting event at the SEA Games, marking the sixth gold for the Thai weightlifting team.

According to Thai News Agency, the women’s 69 kg weightlifting final was held at Chonburi Sports School, featuring five athletes. Patthida Wongsingh, the youngest competitor in her category, lifted 101 kg in the snatch and 128 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total lift of 229 kg. This performance earned her the gold medal, adding to Thailand’s tally. Indah Evriza from Indonesia secured the silver with a total weight of 227 kg, while Christel Macrohon from the Philippines took home the bronze with 221 kg.

Following her victory, Patthida expressed her joy, noting that this was her first SEA Games and she faced seasoned competitors. Despite her nerves, she was thrilled to secure the gold medal.

In the men’s 79 kg category, Petty Officer 1st Class Nattawut Suebswan claimed a bronze medal by lifting 155 kg in the snatch and 180 kg in the clean and jerk, accumulating a total weight of 335 kg.

In addition, in the women’s 63 kg category, 19-year-old Thanaporn Saetia managed a snatch lift of 101 kg and a clean and jerk of 120 kg, totaling 218 kg, and securing a bronze medal. The Thai weightlifting team has achieved a total of 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals at the SEA Games.
