Pheu Thai Party Rallies Support in Roi Et for Jiraporn and Chayapa Amid Political Tensions

Bangkok: Pheu Thai Party recently held a significant rally in Roi Et, aimed at bolstering support for candidates Jiraporn and Chayapa in the upcoming elections. The event was marked by calls for action against the longstanding political monopoly and highlighted the party’s intent to push forward a no-confidence motion in parliament.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattawut Saikua, Director of the Pheu Thai Family, joined forces with Ms. Jiraporn Sinthuprai and Ms. Chayapa Sinthuprai, both MPs for Roi Et, in a tour across Phanom Phrai, At Samat, and Si Somdet Districts. The rally attracted tens of thousands at Phanom Phrai Witthayakhan School, where Mr. Nattawut emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing regressive political trends and monopolistic governance.

Mr. Nattawut expressed concern over the state of democracy in the country, asserting that Pheu Thai is determined to file a no-confidence motion. He criticized the current government’s potential avoidance tactics, suggesting that if the parliament is dissolved to evade the debate, it would result in a prime minister who avoids accountability. He further criticized other parties for their reluctance to pursue constitutional amendments, highlighting the dangers of centralized power and the erosion of public influence.

In his address, Mr. Nattawut warned against the continuation of current political dynamics, which he believes undermine democratic principles. He decried the double standards resulting from past coups and reaffirmed the party’s reliance on popular support and the legacy of Thaksin Shinawatra. He noted concerns over attempts to sideline Thaksin from electoral politics, despite the enduring support for his vision in Roi Et.

Ms. Jiraporn Sinthuprai outlined her aspirations to implement policies benefiting various communities, contingent on the Pheu Thai Party forming the next government. She expressed concern that failure to return to power might impede ongoing initiatives, drawing parallels with past coups that nullified successful policies. She assured constituents of her family’s unwavering commitment to their ideals and the electorate, despite facing political persecution.

Ms. Chayapa Sindhuphrai addressed rumors of party defection, firmly denying any shift to the Blue Party. She reiterated her allegiance to the Pheu Thai Party and her dedication to advocating for policies that enhance public welfare. Despite political shifts, she remains committed to holding the government accountable and prioritizing the public’s interest over political expediency.
