Pheu Thai Party to Select Candidates for Key Political Positions

Bangkok: Pheu Thai is set to convene a meeting this afternoon to choose candidates for the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and ministerial roles, with the intention of proposing these names to the Bhumjaithai Party. The party has affirmed that no names have been previously submitted or rejected and emphasized that selections will be based on suitability and the needs of both the people and the nation.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, addressed the media after a party executive committee meeting this morning. He stated that the meeting was a routine process to select personnel for political positions within Pheu Thai. The final number of positions will be determined after discussions with government-forming leaders. Presently, the number of ministerial and deputy speaker roles remains undetermined, pending further discussion. The party aims to establish a framework for discussions to empower authorized personnel to make decisions. Post-meeting, these authorized individuals will engage with the Bhumjaithai Party. Any reserve list of party personnel for these roles will be submitted following established procedures.

Mr. Julaphan dismissed rumors about the Pheu Thai Party submitting Mr. Phatthana Sappho's name for the second Deputy Speaker of the House, stating no names were submitted to the Bhumjaithai Party. He explained that including Mr. Wisut Chaiyanarun, Deputy Party Leader and Pheu Thai Party list MP, was standard, as discussions had occurred in various circles. The final decision will be presented to the party's executive committee. He urged patience, noting that prematurely proposing names would be unproductive since only one individual can hold each position. He highlighted that many Pheu Thai members possess the necessary qualifications for these roles and requested time for thorough consideration. He reiterated that all appointees must comply with legal procedures and undergo verification to ensure adherence to the Constitution and relevant laws.

A decision regarding ministerial positions based on regional quotas has not been finalized. The party intends to prioritize candidates capable of addressing national and public needs. Following the conclusion of the party meeting this afternoon, discussions with the Bhumjaithai Party will take place, including deliberations on the second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Pheu Thai Party headquarters was bustling this morning as members of the party's executive committee, including Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol, Mr. Chakraphong Saengmanee, Mr. Phaophum Rojanasakul, and Mr. Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, gathered for the meeting.
