Phuket Implements Checkpoints to Screen Indian Passengers Amid West Bengal Nipah Virus Outbreak

Phuket: Phuket Airport (PHK) has implemented measures to screen for the Nipah Virus in response to an outbreak in West Bengal, an area under continuous surveillance. The airport has collaborated with the International Infectious Disease Control checkpoint to establish screening points for arriving passengers from the affected region, aiming to closely monitor and prevent the spread of the disease.

According to Thai News Agency, Phuket Airport currently has one airline operating five direct flights per week from the affected areas and related regions. To ensure smooth and efficient operations, the airport has enhanced public health measures within the passenger terminal, including increasing the frequency of cleaning in common areas and contact points. The airport is also closely coordinating with the International Infectious Disease Control checkpoint to ensure the safety and confidence of passengers, airport users, and staff.
