Bangkok: Pipat ignores polls showing the Democrat Party has overtaken Bhumjaithai in the South, confident in its strong voter base and stating that he is now focused on solving the flood crisis.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Transport and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) in the southern region, addressed the Nida Poll’s findings, revealing the party’s declining popularity in the southern region. He said, “It’s okay, let it be according to the poll. Resolving the crisis is a bigger issue right now. Polls are just polls, but we’re not interested in them. We want to prioritize resolving the flooding issue.”
When asked if he was still confident in the trend in the southern region, Mr. Pipat said he was still confident.
Regarding the trend of Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, who appears to be boosting the party’s votes, Mr. Pipat said he wasn’t concerned. He added that southerners already have a strong following for the Democrat Party. Therefore, the outcome of the polls will depend on the poll results. His duty is to do his job to the best of his ability.
