“Pipat” Urgently Deploys Electricians to Restore Over 100 Flood-Damaged Buildings in Chiang Rai.

Bangkok: “Pipat” has taken immediate action by hiring electricians to repair over 100 buildings in Chiang Rai, creating a model to facilitate area restoration after recent flooding. This initiative aims to make the area functional for work once the floodwaters recede.

According to Thai News Agency, on November 6, 2024, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Minister of Labor, led the “KICK OFF” event to commence electrical repair services for houses and buildings impacted by the floods in Chiang Rai Province. This effort is part of a broader strategy to relieve the distress of those affected by the disaster. Key figures such as Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, and Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, were present for the launch, along with other high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Labor.

Local leaders, including Mr. Chotinrin Ketsom, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Mr. Damrongsak Yodthongdee, Deputy
Governor of Chiang Rai Province, participated in welcoming the initiative in Ban Ko Sai, Mae Sai Subdistrict. The project also saw participation from volunteer electricians and the local community.

Mr. Pipat outlined a three-phase plan to assist flood victims in Chiang Rai. The first phase involves distributing relief bags and assessing the conditions of affected homes and businesses. The second phase will focus on post-flood employment to clean and restore the area, enabling residents and businesses to resume normal operations. The third phase, which kicked off today, involves deploying technicians to provide urgent electrical repairs to over 100 households, forming a model that can be replicated in other provinces.

Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut highlighted the Ministry’s concurrent efforts to address employment issues for 400 disaster victims, engaging them in clean-up activities between October 9-13. Minister Phiphat and other ministry officials have actively monitored these initiatives to ensure effective ar
ea restoration.

Mr. Decha Prukpatanarak added that the electrical repair services would be conducted from November 5-6, 2024, with significant support from Home Product Center Public Company Limited. The initiative includes collaboration from technician teams across various government and private sectors, as well as volunteers, totaling over 170 individuals from multiple regions such as Samut Prakan, Nakhon Sawan, and Chiang Mai.

Additional services are provided to support affected residents, including motorcycle oil changes and culinary training courses, offering skills in fast food preparation and pineapple fried rice cooking. These courses aim to equip residents with the knowledge to generate income and sustain themselves following the crisis.
