Bangkok: Ple Nakorn met with Thammanat to clarify the issue of inaccurate information after a phone-in with a news program. He said he could call on him at any time.
According to Thai News Agency, Ple Nakorn Silachai met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, in his capacity as Director of the Center for Water Management in Natural Disasters (CDMDM), following public concerns about a possible conflict between the two. The inconsistent information presented by Ple Nakorn and Lt. Col. Thammanat has been widely speculated to have led to conflict.
The atmosphere at the meeting was relaxed and friendly, with Ple Nakorn saying, “I know you’re here and working.” During the conversation, Ple Nakorn also inquired about the process for transporting bodies of those killed during the floods. Capt. Thammanat explained that by law, police officers are required to document evidence before the body can be moved. Therefore, everything must be in accordance with established regulations.
Then, the couple hugged each other, with Ple Nakorn saying, “If you need anything, please call me immediately.”
Reporters also noted that on the night of November 26th, after Lt. Col. Thammanat visited the area to assist the people and returned to his residence, Ple Nakorn also went to greet them and offer words of encouragement before dispersing without any conflict.
