Bangkok: Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister of Thailand, expressed her honor in welcoming Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, Mr. Adebayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), and the True iDC team. The meeting focused on strategies to enhance Thailand’s data center infrastructure, a crucial component of the nation’s digital framework.
According to Thai News Agency, the government is committed to establishing Thailand as the digital economy hub of the ASEAN region. Achieving this goal necessitates rapid advancements in infrastructure and significant investments, particularly in the Data Center and Cloud Service sectors within the country.
The nation has already attracted investments from several leading technology companies, including Google, Microsoft, and Tiktok (ByteDance). Looking forward, Thailand aims to expand investments into other emerging sectors, such as clean energy and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Prime Minister emphasized that the success of this vital economic infrastructure project relies heavily on collaboration across various sectors. She expressed confidence that the recent discussions mark a positive step toward jointly positioning Thailand as the central hub of the digital economy in ASEAN.
